June 2026 Update: Phases, Dosage Calculation, and More
A look at what's new in HealthCareSim this month, including scenarios that unfold over time, support for dosage calculation competency, and a growing Wallcur medication partnership.
This release brings several additions we are excited to share. Two stand out: Phases, which let scenarios unfold over the course of a shift, and an optional Dosage Calculation step that supports competency-based education around safe medication administration. There is also a new way to bring Wallcur medications into your library, more flexibility for students documenting their work, additional control over running scenarios, and a continued investment in accessibility.
Phases
Scenarios can now move through stages over the course of a shift rather than presenting everything at once. Phases let instructors shape how a scenario evolves, releasing the right information at the right moment so the experience reflects the way a real shift progresses. The result is scenarios that feel less static and more like the unfolding clinical picture students will encounter in practice.
Dosage Calculation
Wrong-dose errors are one of the most serious patient safety risks in real practice. This release adds an optional step for assessing and documenting student competency in dosage calculation, giving programs another way to confirm that students can do the math safely before administering a medication. It is built to support competency-based education and can be enabled where it fits a program’s goals.
Wallcur Practi-Products
We are excited about a new partnership with Wallcur. Programs already using Wallcur Practi-Products medications now have a streamlined way to bring those medications into their HealthCareSim library, with details set up to match Wallcur’s product line. As part of the partnership, HCS customers can also access a discount on new Practi-Products orders.
More for Students and Facilitators
This release includes several quality-of-life improvements across the platform. Students gain more flexibility in how they capture and turn in their documentation work, and facilitators gain more control over how a running scenario is managed during class. These refinements come directly from how programs are using HealthCareSim day to day.
Accessibility
Accessibility has been a major focus this release, with substantial progress toward WCAG 2.1 AA, concentrated on the student-facing experience. Students and instructors should notice a more navigable, screen-reader-friendly platform, and this work is ongoing.
